Building implementation capacity in health services delivery: The AusHSI experience

Despite the continual emergence and validation of evidence demonstrating effectiveness of interventions to improve health service delivery, healthcare systems worldwide have failed to bridge the implementation gap between evidence generation and sustainable evidence-based practice, resulting in inefficient use of resources and sub-optimal quality of care within the health service.
The Australian Centre for Health Services Innovation (AusHSI) builds capacity in evidence implementation by supporting clinician implementers to design, implement, monitor, and rigorously evaluate evidence-based interventions in healthcare settings for a successful scale up across health services.
In this panel session AusHSI will share learnings from the collective journey of clinician implementers through the complexities of implementation. Using case studies on hospital avoidance of residential aged care residents, service planning in a specialist outpatient service, and kidney supportive care in a community-based multidisciplinary collaboration, they will provide practical strategies for what works, when and how in order to ensure high quality implementation in health service delivery.
