This presentation will focus on the SafeCare model, an evidence-based practice for addressing child neglect and abuse. SafeCare is a behaviorally based parenting program that trains parents in three areas: positive parenting, home safety, and child health. SafeCare has been shown effective in several randomized trials, including the largest randomized trials ever conducted within a child welfare system. SafeCare is disseminated by the National SafeCare Training and Research Center at Georgia State University, which provides training and implementation support to implementation sites. This presentation will describe the SafeCare model and its supporting data. The presentation will focus strongly on the implementation and dissemination model used to disseminate SafeCare, and how that model fits with best practices from implementation science. I will provide examples of successful large scale implementations of SafeCare, and discuss challenges, lessons learned, and successes. I will describe plans to implement and expand SafeCare in the New South Wales.
